LGBTQ+ Counselling & Psychotherapy
Affirming, inclusive therapy for individuals exploring sexuality, gender identity, and the challenges that can come with them.
A genuinely inclusive space
Finding a therapist who truly understands LGBTQ+ experiences — rather than simply tolerating them — can make an enormous difference. I offer counselling that is not just 'LGBTQ+ friendly', but actively affirming.
I have personal experience of LGBTQ+ identity, which informs the empathy and understanding I bring to this work. You won't need to educate me on the basics, explain your identity, or worry about being misunderstood.
Whether you are questioning your sexuality or gender, navigating coming out, dealing with family rejection, processing internalised shame, or simply want a space where your identity is fully accepted — I'm here.
I can support you with
- Questioning sexuality or gender identity
- Coming out to family, friends, or colleagues
- Family rejection or relationship difficulties
- Internalised homophobia, biphobia, or transphobia
- Navigating gender dysphoria
- Anxiety, depression, or low self-worth related to identity
- Relationship and intimacy issues
- Trauma related to discrimination or hate crime
Questions about LGBTQ+ counselling
- What does 'affirming therapy' mean?
- Affirming therapy means your identity — whatever it is — is accepted and celebrated, not treated as a problem to be solved. I will never suggest that your sexuality or gender identity is something to change or 'work through'.
- Do I need to identify as LGBTQ+ to access this service?
- No. If you are questioning, curious, or simply want a space where you can explore your identity without labels, you are welcome.
- Are sessions confidential?
- Yes. Everything discussed is confidential. I will not share information about your identity or sessions with anyone without your consent.
- Do you work with young LGBTQ+ people?
- Yes. I work with young people aged 5–18 as well as adults. For clients under 16, parental or guardian consent is required — and I can discuss how to navigate this sensitively.
